Strategic challenges
The strategic challenges facing present-day Balkans are a result of processes and policies that determine the degree of security in the individual countries and at a regional level. They are influenced by the management of latent and active conflicts of a different nature - ethnic, religious, economic, and political, that take place within or between the Balkan states. The security and stability in the contemporary Balkans are directly dependent on the interference of external factors (national states, integration communities, international organizations).
The project is funded by the National Science Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science and coordinated by the Institute of Balkan Studies and Centre of Thracology in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
